A Week of Firsts

The week my mom was here was a week of firsts. First bottle, first "real" bath, first trip to Jump Zone. Mom really helped me gain confidence about getting out of the house with two little ones. The thought of it really terrified me. Now I am an old pro at it. You are officially caught up on May, so look forward to posts on June, July and August. Lord help me, will I ever catch up? And I don't just mean blogging. :)

Friends and Family

The weekend before Rodney went back to work my mom came to stay with me. Lynne drove her from Little Rock and the Silvey's came over for a cookout. The Silvey's and Lynne brought the food and cooked. We had such a great time and we were once again thankful for the wonderful friends God has blessed us with.

First Fishing Trip

We were so blessed that Rodney's work gives two weeks off for paternity leave! We got to enjoy some great family time before he went back to work. One night we went fishing at a local park. It was Carter Wayne's and Sawyer's first time to fish. It was a little crazy but fun. In the end Sawyer was asleep and CW only wanted to throw rocks in the water. Whatever makes them happy.

Our First Week Home

Our first week home Rodney's mom came to stay with us. We were so happy to have her and all the wonderful help she gave. We love our Nonna! Sawyer had his first doctor's visit and he was back up to his birth weight. It didn't surprise me because he would eat all day long. Our first family outing was to Chuck E Cheese. Second children are so different - I didn't take CW anywhere until he was 6 weeks old! CW had a blast at Chuck E Cheese and Sawyer slept most of the time. We hated to see Nonna go - I cried again. It was a great first week. Sawyer was eating well and each night he would have a 4 or 5 hour stretch of sleep! CW was loving having Baby Brother around. He was mad at his momma but better me than the baby. He warmed up to me after the Chuck E Cheese trip. I think he just needed to see that we would still do fun things even though there was a new baby around. Both boys are so special, I pray they will always be the best of friends.

Bringing Sawyer Home

We had Sawyer on a Tuesday and went home on Thursday. The drive home was a breeze - not a peep out of Sawyer. I remember CW cried the whole way home and as a new mom - it just made me sick. CW and my parents were there to greet us. It was great to be home. We had a good night except just like CW, Sawyer did not like the Pack 'n' Play. So into the swing he went and just like his brother, he loved it. My parents stayed until Friday and I cried when they left. The took such great care of CW and made him feel so special while I was in the hospital. We love Paw Paw and Nee Nee!

Sweet Memories from Sawyer's Birth

The night before Sawyer was born my parents, Rodney's mom, sister and daughters all came over. Rodney grilled and we had the best time. That night my mom gave me a pedicure and Cw thought it was so funny that Nee Nee was rubbing my feet. He just had to join in the fun. Rodney and I went to the hospital at 5am and we were so excited - not nervous at all. The nurses in my operating room were a hoot. The Bacherolett had started the night before and they were all a buzz about it. They were all so sweet and so excited about my baby. I love my doctor - he and his wife perform the C-sections together. How cute. The medicine they give is wonderful! I remember feeling so wonderful... and sleepy. I remember being all sappy and sweet when Rodney came in the operating room. I am sure he got a kick out of that. The first thing I said to Sawyer was "Hey Sawyer, your mommy loves you." I said the same thing to CW. We didn't announce the name until I was out of recovery and we were all in the same room. Our poor family had to wait that long! Rodney and I heard the name Sawyer at the Red?White game. Some guy called to his son Sawyer, when we heard it Rodney and I just looked at each other and knew that was the name. Ron is after my dad - who I happen to think is one of the greatest people EVER! It was awesome to see his face when we announced the name. Such special moments and that was just the first few hours. It's such a blessing to have wonderful family and friends to share your life's happy times with.

Sawyer Ron Greenfield

On May 19, 2009 we welcomed our second son into the world. Sawyer Ron Greenfield was 6 pounds 14 ounces, 18 1/2 inches long, and cute as could be. He was born at 7:36 am and when they held him over the sheet for me to see there were two big, wide eyes staring back at me. Big brother Carter Wayne loves him so much and even shared his precious "Mmmm Mmmm's" (blankets) with him. Sawyer looked just like Carter Wayne when he was born but I believe he is beginning to look like me... we'll see. Two kids make for a busy household but I hope to get back up to speed with my blogging ASAP!
