Nee Nee and Paw Paw visit!

The weekend before Christmas our Nee Nee and Paw Paw came to visit. They wanted to see our new home decorated for Christmas. Yeah right - they were mssing Carter Wayne. They made Chritmas cookies and Nee Nee taught me to make fudge! We had a wonderful time and even talked them into staying an extra night - like that was hard to do.

Visiting Santa

Carter Wayne loved seeing Santa this year. Last year he was so upset and he cried. This year I could barely contain him as we waited for our turn to see Santa. When he saw Santa walking up he started yelling, "Santa! Santa! Santa! It's me!" Apparently they are personal friends. He jumped right up in Santa's lap and told him he wanted a monster truck. He gave Santa a big hug and we got a great picture. I will have to scan it in later. The magic of Christmas just seems to come back when you have children around.

Christmas School Performance

Well our second school performance did not go as well as our first. Carter Wayne told me that morning that he did not want to sing - I assumed he was kidding. He walked down with the other kids and looked so cute. Everything was fine until he saw me and he began screaming and crying. I had to put up the camera and and go down front to get him. We watched his class sing their 3 songs then left. He did let me take these two pictures. He is still wiping the tears in one of them. In his defense - he did warn me that he didn't want to sing. Next time I will listen... or just hide in the audience.

Christmas Party Number 2

After our school party we headed to a Birthday Party for Jesus with our best friends Leslie and Olivia Grace. It was so fun and Carter Wayne loeved running up and down the gym floor with the big kids. The kids heard the Christmas story, played games, made a craft, and ate cupcakes. It was a fun time!

School Christmas Party

Carter Wayne enjoyed his Christmas Party at school. He loves his teacher Ms. Jenny. She is so sweet. She and Ms. Amy gave him a special gift. Carter Wayne was so excited. We have enjoyed our time at Mother's Day Out this year.

My 31st Birthday!

Long gone are the days of week long birthday celebrations and elaborate parties I plan for myself. One year I planned a huge birthday party for myself for the sole purpose of getting Rodney to my house so he could see how wonderful I was and how he totally needed to date me. It worked. This year was a quiet birthday with my two favorite boys - they made me feel as special as a hundred parties. Cupcakes, sweet cards, Olive Garden dinner, and beautiful new jewelry. My best bud Leslie also took me out and made me feel special the day before! That is almost a birthday week!

Thanksgiving 2008

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving in Mississippi with my mom's family. My aunts and mom cooked Thanksgiving at my great-grand mother's old home. This was quite the feat in that little kitchen! We had over thirty people there. The kids had a great time outside and the weather was perfect. We even did Christmas crafts on Friday. It was a true down home Thanksgiving - I know Mom Mitchell was smiling down on us.

Branson Blast 2008!

This past weekend we started what I hope will be a long standing tradition for our family - a weekend in Branson. Family, Food, and Fun - three of my favorite things that made up this weekend. We went to Branson Landing, the outlet malls, and of course, Silver Dollar City! Carter Wayne LOVED riding on the train at Silver Dollar City, seeing Santa, watching the parade, and riding the shuttle bus. We all got into the Christmas Spirit and just enjoyed being together. It was so cold there but that just made it feel more like Christmas. I can't wait to go back again!

The wedding of Molly McKnight and Kevin Strom

Carter Wayne and I headed to Little Rock last weekend for my friend Molly's wedding. My weekend was full of wedding festivities and Carter Wayne's weekend was full of being spoiled by Nee Nee and Paw Paw. We both had a great time. It was also great to see so many of my Immanuel friends at the wedding - we really miss our church family. Congrats to Molly and Kevin - you make a precious couple!

Thanksgiving Performance

Carter Wayne had his first public singing performance. I am sure American Idol is not far off. He wore an Indian Hat and "sang" "I'm Glad I'm Not a Turkey" and "Where is Turkey?" He didn't really sing but he did stand in his place the whole time and followed the teacher's instructions. Not too bad for a two year old. At the end of their songs the teachers lead them out and he started crying because he could see Rodney and I in the audience and couldn't understand why he couldn't go with us. So sad. He was relieved to see that we picked him up right after the performance.

Drive-Thru Safari

A couple of weeks ago I took Carter Wayne to the Drive Thru Safari. It was fun. I am not really a "farm" girl so the chickens, roosters, and pigs coming up to our feet kind of freaked me out. But Carter Wayne liked it. He wanted the pig to go home with us and he had a stand off with an ape that kept his back to him. The drive thru part was really neat. Animals were blocking the road and an ostrich kept pecking on our window. We will definitely go back in the Spring and take DaDa - since Mommy kept running from the chickens.

First Attempt at Potty Training

Ok, so we bought a potty, we got some pull ups, we read our potty book and here we are at the introduction of the potty to Carter Wayne. He enjoys sitting on it but using it as a potty... not so much. Maybe we just aren't ready - by we I mean me. This pregnancy has made me so sensitive to smells so I am not so ready to deal with THAT smell. I have trouble changing his diapers these days! The potty is in his bathroom and we talk about it with Carter Wayne, but I think I will wait till the New Year to get things rolling. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

CW's First Razorback Football Game

This weekend marked quite a milestone for the Greenfield family. Carter Wayne's first Razorback Football game. I never thought it would happen when he was two but thanks to the sweet invite from our friends the Czeschins, a dream was made a reality. We had a wonderful time and it was so great to catch up with friends we only get to see once a year. The kids had a blast and I believe the parents did too. And we won! The sweetest moment was as we were leaving the game Rodney said that he couldn't believe he was at a Razorback game with HIS son, it was surreal. So sweet, I just love my boys. Thanks to the Czeschins for helping us have such a great time and a special family memory.
