The "popeye" is finally gone. It definitely is one of those things we let go too far and I have been really dreading getting rid of it. It had become our "dirty little secret" something we only used at home or in the car. It has been with us for 3 1/2 years now. It was to the point when CW came home he would walk down the hall calling for it. "Popeye, I'm home, where are you?" I was praying about it because I have been so scared to take it away and I really wanted to do it before the Holidays. It is such a pain to keep up with it on trips. Well, a couple of weeks ago on a Thursday afternoon we couldn't find it anywhere. Still no sign of it that night and CW slept without it. He didn't cry for it or seem upset. So we saw our chance, but we would have to make sure we found it before he did. My parents were up the next night and my mom found it. The popeye was right by his bed. She grabbed it and I hid it forever. CW asks for the popeye every now and then. I just remind him that we lost it and he goes on about his business. A weird side effect is that he no longer wants his two blankets, the "Umm mms". He never even asks for them. I guess they and the popeye were a package deal. It is so nice to be rid of that thing and I think his speech has even improved. Thank you, Lord for taking on this one so this weary momma had one less battle to face.
